Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Activities Director to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities for residents in a nursing home or assisted living environment. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by promoting social interaction, physical activity, and mental stimulation. The Activities Director will work closely with staff, residents, and their families to create a vibrant community atmosphere. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program tailored to the interests and needs of residents. Plan and coordinate events that promote social engagement, including games, arts and crafts, music therapy, and outings. Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure activities align with residents' health and wellness goals. Conduct assessments to identify individual resident preferences and capabilities. Maintain accurate records of participation in activities and evaluate the effectiveness of programs. Train and supervise volunteers or activity aides in facilitating programs. Requirements Experience in recreational therapy, social work, or related fields is preferred. Strong background in event planning within a long-term care or assisted living setting. Knowledge of dementia care practices and aging issues counseling is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Compassionate approach to care with a focus on enhancing resident well-being through meaningful activities. Certification in recreational therapy or related field is a plus but not mandatory.
