Job Description

Company Overview Samaritan Care Center & Villa is a dedicated non-profit healthcare campus comprising a 56-bed Skilled Nursing Facility and an assisted living community with 26 private apartments. Our focus is on providing personalized, compassionate care that promotes residents' comfort, well-being, and independence. Overview We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Activities Assistant to join our team on weekends. The ideal candidate will have a passion for engaging seniors through meaningful activities and recreational programs. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on residents' lives by fostering social interaction, mental stimulation, and emotional well-being. Duties Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs. Assist in developing activity schedules that promote socialization, cognitive engagement, and physical activity for residents with diverse conditions such as dementia and memory impairments. Support residents in participating in activities, ensuring their safety and comfort during engagements. Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to identify individual preferences and special needs related to aging issues, disabilities, or dementia care. Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to evaluate activity effectiveness. Create a warm, inclusive environment that encourages social interaction among residents. Assist with the setup and cleanup of activity spaces while ensuring all equipment is safe and well-maintained. Requirements Prior experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or working with seniors in assisted living or nursing home settings. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, memory care, dementia care, and long-term care practices. Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members. Ability to manage schedules efficiently while prioritizing safety and resident preferences. Background in caregiving or home & community care is preferred but not required. Demonstrated understanding of aging issues counseling, social work principles, and working with individuals with disabilities.
