Job Description
Position is scheduled to work Thursday - Monday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Activities Assistant to enrich the lives of residents in a senior living environment. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for engaging seniors through thoughtfully planned activities and recreational programs. This role offers the opportunity to foster community spirit, promote wellness, and enhance residents' quality of life through meaningful social interactions and tailored programming. The Activities Assistant will work closely with residents, staff, and external partners to develop and implement diverse activities that cater to various interests and abilities. Duties Plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities, including social events, arts and crafts, fitness classes, and memory care programs. Assist in developing engaging activity schedules that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being. Build strong rapport with residents by understanding their preferences, needs, and abilities to tailor activities accordingly. Collaborate with team members to ensure activities are inclusive and accessible for residents with disabilities or memory impairments such as Alzheimer's or dementia. Manage the organization of resident events, ensuring smooth execution from planning through cleanup. Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve program offerings. Support residents with daily activities of living (ADLs) as needed during events or outings. Use communication skills effectively to promote upcoming activities through various channels including notices, newsletters, or direct engagement. Requirements Proven experience in activity planning within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or senior care environments. Knowledge of recreational therapy principles and experience working with geriatric patients or individuals with disabilities. Strong understanding of memory care techniques, dementia care strategies, and aging issues counseling. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications for scheduling, documentation, and communication purposes. Demonstrated ability to develop programs that foster resident engagement and build community rapport. Excellent communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with residents, families, staff, and external vendors. Prior experience working in long-term care or senior living facilities is highly desirable. Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude in a dynamic environment.
