Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Director to lead our recreational and social programming within a senior living community. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in event planning, resident engagement, and program development, with a focus on enhancing the quality of life for residents through meaningful activities. As Activities Director, you will coordinate diverse programs tailored to residents' interests and needs, fostering an environment of inclusion, enjoyment, and well-being. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on seniors' lives by creating vibrant, engaging experiences that promote socialization, mental stimulation, and overall happiness. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and execute a variety of recreational activities and events that cater to residents' interests, including memory care and dementia-specific programs. Develop innovative programming that promotes social interaction, cognitive engagement, and physical activity while respecting individual abilities and preferences. Coordinate with staff members, families, and external vendors to ensure seamless event execution and resident participation. Build strong rapport with residents by understanding their needs and preferences, fostering a welcoming environment that encourages participation. Manage scheduling of activities to ensure consistent engagement opportunities throughout the day and week. Maintain detailed records of resident participation and feedback to continuously improve program offerings. Lead team members in activity planning efforts, providing guidance and support for staff involved in recreational therapy or caregiving roles. Utilize Microsoft Office tools for scheduling, reporting, and communication purposes while maintaining organized documentation of programs. Experience Proven experience in event planning within senior care settings such as assisted living or nursing homes. Extensive background in working with seniors, including those with Alzheimer's disease or other memory impairments. Demonstrated knowledge of geriatrics, dementia care, and aging issues counseling to tailor activities appropriately. Prior experience in long-term care environments or home & community care settings is highly desirable. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage residents effectively and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Experience developing programs that support residents' physical, emotional, and social well-being through recreational therapy or similar initiatives. Familiarity with resident rapport building techniques and assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) when necessary. Pay:
$50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
