Job Description
STATEMENT OF JOB
The Recreation Specialist is directly responsible for scheduling, implementing and overseeing age-appropriate community and social activities each week and The Adventures at Acadia program. The Recreation Specialist will ensure the client's safety while in the community and facilitate appropriate community involvement and interaction. The Recreation Specialist will also work with assigned clients around leisure planning and education and organize specialized groups in the community.Reports to:

Essential:
A. Comply with all Acadia NeuroRehabilitation - A Division of Success Rehabilitation, Inc., policies and procedures as stated in company manuals. Be familiar with the mission, vision, and values of the company and work towards assuring that these are integrated as part of all job efforts. Investigate community events to ensure that a broad range of activities are offered to the clients. Research community integration activities for specialized events, Adventures at Acadia, and Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy sessions to ensure accessibility, discounts available, and convenience of location. Coordinate special events and holiday events with designated staff and team members. Attend and transport clients throughout scheduled activities, as identified and scheduled. Plan and organize the Adventures at Acadia Program Develop lesson plans and organize/run Neurocognitive Programming Groups as scheduled. Ensure that proper documentation is completed for neurocognitive groups via a neurocognitive schedule within SharePoint. Develop, organize, and run Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy sessions as scheduled. Ensure proper documentation is completed for therapy sessions within the EHR system, Credible, and quarterly goals for the client's IPD are completed within SharePoint. Coordinate with the Residential Team regarding staffing needs/shift change and transportation issues. Maintain appropriate records. Protect and ensure the safety of each individual client while in the community. Provide a forum for clients to provide input and ideas to the activity calendar regularly (minimally bi-monthly). Maintain and monitor recreational statistics with an identified goal for each client. Provide data and graphs for CARF/funding purposes. Develop appropriate recreation activities to meet the needs of the clients served. Ensure the cost of all activities does not exceed the allotted budget and expenditure sheets are reconciled with the financial office as needed. II. Non-essential A. Attendance and participation at state and national Brain Injury Association and other organizations as assigned B. Regular attendance and participation in committees and meetings as assigned.JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Therapeutic Recreation or other therapeutic modality (e.g. Art Therapy, Music Therapy)
- 2-5 years' experience as recreation specialist/activity coordinator. Experience in rehabilitation/special populations preferred.
- Proficient knowledge and experience with technology and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytic, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
