A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

The Activities Coordinator will coordinate activities in our Personal Care Community that will cater to a resident's individual or group needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plans, organizes, and directs activities to help maintain and improve the mental, social and physical health of our Personal Care residents.
  • Builds good rapport with residents as to encourage participation in events.
  • Willing to listen to residents ideas, wants and desires for activities and research then to bring them to fruition.
  • Transports residents to activities as needed. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate creativity and be able to plan and execute appropriate activities for the residents.
  • Must have previous experience with geriatric community and executing events.
  • Must be able and willing to drive the bus .
  • Must be an active listener and be customer service oriented.
  • Good computer skills. Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma minimum.
  • Practical experience in a geriatric setting.
The Activities Coordinator benefits:
P/T 30 hours/week position. 9:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday No Holidays Health Insurance, 401(k), partial holiday pay and PTO. Will work occasionally on a Saturday Do you want to enjoy your job?
