Exempt Primary Purpose of Job The primary purpose of this position is oversee the smooth operations of St. Mary's Residence. Priority is given to the wellbeing of the facility's residents; maintenance of the facility; outreach to potential sources for referral; and the development and maintenance of appropriate staffing. Essential Job Functions Screen and assess applicants for suitability for admission. Orient new residents to St. Mary's Residence. Assist residents in meeting their individual needs and achieving individual goals with resources and referrals. Scope of services may include but is not limited to assistance with applications for entitlement benefits, management of personal finances and credit, access to medical and mental health services; guardianship, and end-of-life and burial planning. Provide support to residents and address concerns as they arise. Hold residents accountable for adhering to rules and policies. When necessary, create a plan of corrective action when residents are not in adherence in order to support continued residency. Create a plan when continued residency is no longer feasible. Build and maintain relationships with residents' family members, guardians, contact persons and other sources of support. Facilitate a clean, peaceful community atmosphere in the residence. Recruit, train, and supervise staff. Manage all areas of Human Resource functions within the facility. Assume responsibility for scheduling, assignment of work duties, evaluating employee performance, and providing ongoing supervision of center personnel. Provide oversite of any agreements with educational institutions and student interns. Supervise the Assistant Director and oversee the management of the physical facility. Ensure that the building and equipment remains in good repair, clean, safe, and in compliance with City codes Maintain licenses and certifications (rooming house, food service site and food handling, elevator, etc.). Participate in facility inspections and undertake all required corrective action to adhere to standards and regulations. Conduct outreach to potential referral sources for new residents to maintain census. Reassess eligibility criteria periodically with supervisor. Conduct outreach to community service providers to maintain relationships beneficial to residents and the organization (e.g., medical providers and hospitals, county assistance office, funeral homes, staffing organizations, vendors of food products, repair services, etc.) Perform all required fiscal duties with proper attention to stewardship, which includes budgeting, expense and revenue management, obtaining bids for capital expenditures, managing contracts with vendors, and completing and documenting all monetary transactions (i.e., rent collection, facility expenses, petty cash utilization). Prepare reports for CHCS, funders, and other stakeholders as requested. Maintain the confidentiality of resident information. Plan program events, which may include special meals, education, socialization, recreation, social service, and health and wellness activities for the benefit of residents. Other Job Functions Responsible to be knowledgeable and to implement the Mission and Philosophy of the Archdiocese and organization within the scope of responsibility. Adheres to established policies and procedures for Catholic Human Services at all times. Treat all residents, staff, volunteers, visitors, and community partners with dignity and respect. Attend meetings, trainings, and events, as needed/assigned, to facilitate communication, collaboration, and overall quality of service. Remain current with Archdiocesan priorities, current legislation, professional literature, and practice standards to ensure quality outcomes. Articulate the priorities, procedures, and policies of Catholic Human Services and the organizations under its umbrella to various audiences and respond to the needs of individuals, families, communities, funders and investors. Assist CHS divisions with other community-based projects as assigned to foster collaboration. Provide services to a diverse community, with sensitivity to the cultural norms, traditions, preferences, etc. of consumers and other stakeholders. Demonstrate high standards of attendance and timeliness. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Education Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Social Work or related field. Experience Minimum of 2-4 years experience in the field of social services, aging preferred. Demonstrated capability in assuming a leadership role and expanded or increased responsibilities. Demonstrated high standards of tact, discretion, professionalism. Ability to function as part of a team and to lead teams. Organized and possesses strong problem-solving skills. Strong written and oral communication skills. Physical Requirements (with or without the aid of mechanical devices) Sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during work hours. Must be able to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, etc. up to 50 pounds. Work Environment Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work respectfully and effectively with residents, personnel, other agencies, community partners, vendors, and visitors under a variety of circumstances and conditions. Must be able to work effectively with older adults in a residential setting respectful of their dignity and right to self-determination. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Ability to maintain and promote calm in emergency situations. Language Written and oral fluency in English is required.
