SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Memory Care Activity Coordinator is responsible for the on-site facilitating of resident activities in the Activity Department in accordance with current standards, guidelines and regulations, company policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Activity Director to assure that all activities are designed to meet, in accordance with the assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psychological well-being of each resident. The Memory Care Activity Coordinator is also responsible for safe driving of the community's van and supervision of the residents and assistance with personal care during outings and doctor's appointments. 1. Provide a positive and creative social atmosphere throughout the property and promote resident and family participation through regularly scheduled events, activities, special programs and guest speakers, movie showings, exercise sessions. 2. Coordinate with the Activity Director to plan, carry-out and attend all special functions and activity programs during company hours and any event scheduled outside of normal business hours. 3. Ensure activities and events acknowledge the cultural, religious and ethnic diversity of the residents and their families. 4. Actively encourage resident participation in all activities. 5. Assist the clinical department and care staff with resident ADLs, as needed. 6. Understand and ensure compliance with all Federal (Title 22) and state regulations concerning the department. 7. Coordinate with Activity Director and facilitate transportation needs of the residents and maintain transportation schedule for all events, activities and appointments. 8. Possess the ability, licensure and willingness to drive the community van. Employee must follow all state and federal laws when operating the vehicle. 9. Ensure knowledge remains current regarding senior activities and dementia/Alzheimer's through completion of continuing education courses provided by the community. 10. Accurate and timely performance of all clerical work connected with the position. 11. Assist Activity Director with the planning and setup of special events, some of which may occur outside of normal business hours. 16. Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments. 17. Support a positive and professional image through language, actions and dress. 18. Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents, and guests, following established safety standards. 21. Perform other duties consistent with position, as assigned by the Activity Director.
