Job Description

Duties include overseeing all aspects of the Department of Arts and Culture's volunteer program including recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, and retention of volunteers as well as the overall development, cultivation, and evaluation of a robust, sustainable youth and adult volunteer program. Duties include working closely with a cross-departmental team, including Exhibitions/Curatorial, Education & Outreach, Marketing & Communications, Advancement, Operations, and Visitor Services staff, to fulfill the mission to inspire, engage, and connect visitors of all ages through cultural and artistic experiences and opportunities; developing and overseeing the budget for the volunteer program and activities; ensuring volunteer check-in procedures are followed and records of volunteer hours are maintained according to established procedures; conducting ongoing evaluation of programs and services delivered by volunteers and implementing improvement as necessary; and preparing an annual report on the contribution of the volunteer program to the organization. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Education, Museum Studies, Art/Art History, History/Humanities or closely related field and three years of experience supervising, directing, and training volunteers in a museum, community arts center, library, cultural or educational institution, or nonprofit environment required.
