Job Description
Who we are: Child & Family Healing Center provides 24- hour intensive residential treatment on Shineforth's staff-secure, unlocked 33-acre campus. Our multidisciplinary team integrates Collaborative Problem Solving™ with family engagement, psychiatry, nursing, verbal and non-verbal therapies, social work, and counseling.
What we do:
We collaborate with communities in a Systems of Care approach to ensure successful transition into residential treatment, through intervention, and back into the community. We assess strengths and executive functioning to develop treatment goals for youth and families.
Who We Serve:
We serve males, females, and gender-diverse youth ages 11-17 at time of admission, who are in the custody of their parent/guardian, the Department of Social Services, or the Department of Juvenile Justice, and have a minimum IQ of 65 (evaluated on a case-by-case basis). Trauma histories Mood and anxiety disorders Emotional, social, and behavioral challenges Autism and other neurological differences Problem sexual behaviors What we are looking for: A Recreational Therapist to plan, organize, implement and document innovative therapeutic recreation activities for clients in the residential treatment program to enhance their physical, social and emotional well-being. This position is responsible for identifying, engaging with, and coordinating with community partners and volunteers to support kids at the Child and Family Healing Center (CFHC).
What you will need:
Degree in recreational therapy and a minimum of six-months experience. Demonstrated ability to plan, direct and coordinate the recreational activities of a similar services program with competence in written and oral communications, and problem solving. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, TRAININGS
Possess valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and proof of automobile insurance coverage. Must be able to be certified as a Life Guard, CPR, First Aid, TOVA, and Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. Multiple mandatory trainings are required dependent on position and program.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to participate in and be certified in a manual restraint technique, life guarding, ropes course and perform First Aid and CPR. Additionally, the employee must be able to participate in activities and crisis interventions using manual restraint techniques. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk and or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; bend; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Repeated hand-wrist movement required. Corrected vision to normal range; normal hearing and talking is required for verbal communications. Ability to use a variety of office equipment and technologies. Able to drive short and long distances frequently. Good memory and recall is necessary for the accurate and timely transfer of data/information.
