Summary:
The CVOR Nurse Specialist is a professional nurse who, with minimal supervision, assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing care of CV patients who require a surgical procedure.
Other information:
Knows AORN Guidelines for Perioperative Practice and is an expert in the Principles of Sterile Technique. Knowledgeable regarding specialized CV instrumentation and maintenance. Knowledgeable about the heart lung bypass machine functionality, tubing, and circuit connections. Knowledgeable about implants and requirements for preparation and implantation. Demonstrates understanding of hemodynamic parameters and uses this knowledge to anticipate needs. Demonstrates interpretation of electrocardiographic information to continually access patient needs. Is able to focus on patient safety during all phases of the preoperative, intraoperative, and immediate postoperative process as the ultimate patient advocate.
