A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

Job Description

This is a private hematology and oncology outpatient clinic and infusion center in the Brookwood Medical Center hospital complex. There are two physicians and 5 nurses. The nurses mainly administer & mix medications. Some rotate for a week as "telenurses" or as lab nurses. Shifts are Monday through Thursday for up to ten hours, generally. There are paid holidays, and PTO is 120-160 hours/year. A bonus is typically paid at the end of the year which adds $1.75/hour to the base salary. The profit sharing pension plan adds 5% to the employee's salary, paid by the practice, to be added to their account. Individual medical insurance with a very good BC/BS plan is provided. Lunch is often catered. The schedule is Monday-Thursday with a half day on Friday once every 5 weeks.. The nurses form a tight-knit group that runs cooperatively rather than under a manager. They have a lot of "heart" and skilled hands. Chemocertification, while desirable, is not required. Experience in infusion clinic setting is preferred.
