Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive physical assessments of neonates, including critically ill and premature infants Develop and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with supervising physicians Manage acute and chronic neonatal conditions such as respiratory distress, sepsis, congenital anomalies and prematurity-related complications Provide advanced procedures including but not limited to intubation, central line placement, lumbar punctures and ventilator management Monitor and interpret diagnostic tests including laboratory data, radiologic imaging and cardiopulmonary findings Participate in neonatal resuscitation and stabilization at high risk deliveries Communicate effectively with families regarding patient condition, treatment plans and prognosis Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, respiratory therapists and specialists Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the medical record Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research and evidence-based practice Provide education and support to staff and families Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards Regular and prompt attendance Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required Related duties as assigned
Additional Information:
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in nursing from an accredited institution and completion of an approved nurse practitioner training program Required NNP
  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification Required RN
  • Registered Nurse
  • State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for Alabama Required NRP
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Required Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
