1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position at a Level II Trauma Center in Montgomery, AL, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Surg and/or ICU experience and Cerner or Epic proficiency. Details Float pool position covering multiple Med/Surg units within a 492-bed Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center Units include: Trauma Surgical (6N), Neuroscience (5S), Med/Surg Oncology (5N), Clinical Decision Unit (4S), Orthopedics (3S), and MS/Ortho/Urology (3N) Patient populations vary by unit and include general surgery, vascular, neurological (CVA, TBI, seizure, craniotomy), oncology, orthopedic, urological, and general Med/Surg patients Patient ratios range from 1:5 to 1:6 depending on unit assignment Telemetry is monitored by telemetry techs; RNs are required to interpret and confirm strip readings every 4 hours Travelers will be assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM 36 hours per week with potential for 48 Every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month required No on-call responsibilities Floating to like units required (e.g., MS to MS, MS to ICU tasks, MS to ER holds)

Spacelabs Scheduling follows a 4-week cycle with no self-scheduling; Smart Square is used Requirements Active AL RN license or compact RN license required Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg and/or ICU experience required Cerner or Epic EMR experience required; if experience is ICU-only, Cerner is required Trauma or surgical experience (at least 1 year) required for Trauma Surgical unit consideration Core clinical skills required vary by unit but broadly include: wound care, chest tubes, NGT, trach care, PEG tubes, IV starts, central line care, foley care, ostomy care, and medication administration Chemo administration certification highly preferred for Med/Surg Oncology unit Ability to interpret telemetry strips required DOB (day and month) and SSN required for consideration One reference from a charge nurse or above from within the past 12 months required for consideration Copies of current certifications required for consideration Additional Information First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided minimum experience requirements are met Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 6 months (from last shift worked to start date) before being considered as a traveler Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible Orientation consists of 24 hours of classroom time followed by 24 hours on the unit for travelers new to the facility or those who have been away for 1 or more years; rehire orientation is based on time since last assignment Holiday coverage is expected for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy RTO requests require manager approval and may be subject to blackout dates Unit support includes CNAs (1:6 for vitals, ADLs, glucose checks), a charge nurse, HUC/receptionist, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, hospitalist, and telemetry monitoring techs Any scrub color is acceptable Parking is available in the parking deck, levels 2 through 4 only Interviews are conducted via SimpliFi
