A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

POSITION SUMMARY
Provides safe therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way. Incorporates differences into the provision of care. Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum to include patient and family education. Utilizes standards, guidelines, protocols, or pathways for care delivery. Incorporates data and information to continuously improve care and practice to enhance outcomes. Administers Medications according to standard nursing practice. Ensure improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education Associate degree in nursing or equivalent Minimum Experience 2 years recent acute care experience Required Registration/License/Certification Alabama Board of Nursing License ACLS must be obtained within 1 year of hire date BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire date PALS within 1 year of hire date (if required in work area) NIHSS w/in 90 days of hire/transfer (EAH to assist with certification completion) Preferred Education Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field Preferred Experience 5 years of Perioperative experience
