Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-MS Job Type Contract Deliver advanced patient care in a dynamic medical-surgical environment as a Registered Nurse on a contract basis. This contract offers a 12-hour day shift, following a 36/48 hour week schedule, with shift start time at 7:00 am. Nurses will be assigned a home unit at orientation and may work across various specialty MedSurg floors, including trauma surgical, neuroscience, oncology, orthopedic, decision unit, and urology/ortho settings.
Key Qualifications:
Current RN license, BLS and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 18 months recent experience in MedSurg and/or ICU; EPIC or Cerner EMR system experience mandatory (Cerner required if ICU-only background) Strong clinical skills in wound care, IV starts, medication administration, monitoring, and documentation Experience with trauma, surgical, neuro, oncology, ortho/urology, or general MedSurg patient populations highly desirable Telemetry interpretation experience preferred; if applicable, please specify skill level Track record of prioritization, collaboration, and adaptability in high-acuity settings Open to first-time travelers meeting experience requirements
Responsibilities:
Deliver direct, comprehensive patient care in accordance with best practices and hospital protocols Accurately assess, triage, and monitor conditions for up to 1:5-6 patient ratios, depending on assignment Document and communicate clinical information clearly within Cerner EMR Partner with CNAs, phlebotomy, IV teams, and other support staff for integrated patient management Perform treatments and procedures such as wound care, chest tubes, NG/PEG, trach care, foley management, and chemotherapy (if certified) Monitor telemetry and interpret EKG strips every four hours alongside tele techs Float to like units as needed and participate in a balanced weekend/holiday rotation
