Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-MS Job Type Contract Experienced registered nurses seeking a rewarding role in Med Surg are invited to take on a dynamic position at a leading healthcare center. This contract opportunity offers the chance to provide high-quality care in a modern, multifaceted facility with 492 beds and units spanning Level II Trauma, NICU, primary stroke care, and a robust Medical-Surgical service line.
Schedule & Hours:
12-hour day shifts: 7:00 am - 7:00 pm Typical weekly schedule: Alternating between 36 and 48 hours Weekend rotation: Every other weekend or four weekend days per month Holiday coverage: One major and one minor holiday per policy
Required Qualifications:
Current RN license BLS and NIHSS certifications At least 18 months' experience in Med Surg and/or ICU (ICU-only backgrounds require Cerner familiarity) Comfortable accepting first-time travelers Proven skills with EPIC or Cerner EMR systems Specific unit backgrounds (see below):
Trauma/Surgical:
At least 1 year's experience, wound/chest tube/IV/med administration escalation skills
Neuroscience:
IV start, trach, PEG/NGT, ostomy/chest tube care, surgical site care, restraint management
Oncology:
Chemo experience (certified), trach, chest tubes, wound and drain care
Orthopedic/Urology:
Negative pressure dressings, drains/hemovacs, CVL dressing, IV starts
Responsibilities:
Deliver evidence-based nursing care to diverse adult populations (trauma, neuro, ortho, general med surg, oncology, etc.) Accurately interpret and document telemetry readings every 4 hours Prioritize and manage acute and chronic patient needs Collaborate with CNAs, phlebotomists, unit secretaries, and hospitalists Float within like units as needed to support patient care
