1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position on a 48-bed unit requiring telemetry strip interpretation and night shift availability. Details Acute care hospital setting on a combined 48-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit (4A and 4B) on the 4th floor Patient population includes COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetic, telemetry, TIA, CVA, and general orthopedic and spinal surgical patients Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 with nurse aide support at 1:10-15 Telemetry is monitored remotely by monitor techs on the 3rd floor; RNs are required to interpret and sign strips at least once per shift Diltiazem administered at a set rate; RNs are not required to titrate drips Respiratory equipment in use includes BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, and nebulizer treatments Charting via Cerner (experience strongly recommended due to limited orientation time) 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break Self-scheduling used with manager final approval; schedules set 4 weeks in advance Every other weekend required (2 weekends per 4-week schedule) Floating required to the East Campus and potentially to PCU if qualified; travelers are first to float No on-call or standby requirements Requirements Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses not accepted Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Experience reading and interpreting basic telemetry strips required Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, CVA, and TIA required Cerner EMR experience strongly recommended Valid driver's license required for consideration 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (permanent address as indicated on driver's license) Additional Information Orientation consists of 1 shift (12 hours) on the unit Unit is supported by a charge nurse (no patient assignment) and a house supervisor Candidates must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) before an offer can be confirmed A pass/fail competency test on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is administered on the first day of orientation Holiday coverage expected for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day — typically 2 days and 1 evening or 2 evenings and 1 day across the holiday period Navy blue scrubs required Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be consideredSimilar jobs in Prescott, AZ
