Job Description
Starkman Facial Plastic Surgery is a premier facial plastic surgery practice committed to delivering exceptional surgical outcomes and an elevated patient experience. Our practice blends advanced surgical expertise with highly personalized patient care in a professional, discreet, and welcoming environment. The Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) serves as a key clinical team member responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality nursing care to patients throughout their surgical journey. The RN provides pre-operative education, post-operative care, wound management, hyperbaric oxygen therapy support, and ongoing patient follow-up. The RN functions as a patient advocate and clinical resource, ensuring patients receive safe, attentive, and compassionate care while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and clinical excellence. Education and Experience Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Arizona Maintain all required re-licensure and continuing education requirements BLS certification required (ACLS preferred) Experience in plastic surgery, facial plastics, dermatology, or aesthetic medicine preferred Experience with post-operative wound care and surgical recovery management Essential Skills and Abilities Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills Ability to make timely, sound decisions and initiate appropriate action Professional, calm, and dependable demeanor Excellent communication skills with patients, physicians, and staff Ability to provide compassionate patient education and emotional reassurance Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy Ability to maintain patient privacy and HIPAA compliance Commitment to maintaining a safe and infection-controlled clinical environment Participate in continuing education and training relevant to facial plastic surgery and patient care Procedural Responsibilities Pre-Operative Responsibilities Provide pre-operative education and instruction to surgical patients Review medical history, medications, and allergies Ensure completion of required pre-operative documentation Verify surgical preparation instructions have been followed Assess patient baseline status and vital signs Answer patient questions regarding surgery and recovery expectations Communicate any concerns or unforeseen changes in the patient's condition to the surgeon Post-Operative Responsibilities Conduct post-operative follow-up visits Evaluate surgical sites for proper healing Monitor for signs of infection or complications Reinforce recovery instructions and activity restrictions Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients during recovery Communicate clinical findings to the surgeon when necessary Document patient progress in the medical record Wound Care and Suture Management Perform scheduled wound checks Remove sutures and surgical dressings Evaluate incision healing and tissue integrity Provide wound care and dressing changes when appropriate Reinforce post-operative skincare and incision care instructions Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) Coordinate and assist with hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments when prescribed Educate patients regarding treatment protocols and expected outcomes Monitor patients during treatment for safety and comfort Document treatment sessions and clinical observations Communicate patient response to therapy with the surgeon Patient Support Visits The RN manages a variety of clinical visits, including, but not limited to: Post-operative follow-up appointments Wound and incision assessments Suture removal visits Hyperbaric therapy appointments Supply pick-ups Clinical concerns or symptom evaluations Documentation Responsibilities Maintain accurate and timely documentation in NexTech (EMR) Record patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes Document patient education and follow-up instructions Ensure patient charts are complete and compliant with clinical standards General Responsibilities Participate in practice quality assurance and patient safety initiatives Maintain effective communication with physicians, staff, and leadership Support efficient clinic workflow and patient scheduling Assist with maintaining clean and organized clinical areas Uphold the high standards and reputation of Starkman Facial Plastic Surgery Compensation Compensation consists of an hourly wage consistent with experience and qualifications. Benefits are provided in accordance with the practice's policies for full-time employees.
