AAPMC and Delta Bay Surgery Center are seeking an experienced and motivated Nurse Practitioner to join our pain management and ambulatory surgery team. This is a unique dual-role position combining outpatient Nurse Practitioner responsibilities with clinical leadership as the Director of Nursing (DON) for Delta Bay Surgery Center. The Nurse Practitioner will primarily provide patient care at AAPMC Pain Clinic on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the NP will work at Delta Bay Surgery Center, serve as the facility's Director of Nursing, and participate in clinical and procedural responsibilities based on training, competency, experience, scope of practice, and the needs of the surgery center. The anticipated schedule is 32-40 hours per week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AAPMC PAIN MANAGEMENT CLINIC

Monday, Wednesday, Friday Evaluate and manage patients with acute and chronic pain conditions in accordance with the Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice and established clinical protocols. Obtain and document comprehensive patient histories and perform appropriate physical examinations. Conduct new patient and follow-up visits. Review patient progress, medications, diagnostic studies, treatment plans, and response to previous interventions. Order diagnostic testing, referrals, medications, and other treatments within the NP's authorized scope of practice. Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, procedures, and follow-up care. Assist with medication management and monitoring when appropriate. Review laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic results and communicate findings and recommendations as appropriate. Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Coordinate care with the Medical Director, referring providers, specialists, pharmacies, and other members of the healthcare team. Assist with pre-procedure assessments and preparation of patients scheduled for interventional pain procedures.

DIRECTOR OF NURSING RESPONSIBILITIES

The Nurse Practitioner will serve as the Director of Nursing for Delta Bay Surgery Center and provide leadership and oversight of nursing services within the ambulatory surgery center.

Responsibilities will include:

Provide day-to-day clinical leadership and oversight of nursing services within the surgery center. Help ensure nursing services are provided in accordance with facility policies, accepted standards of nursing practice, applicable state and federal requirements, CMS Conditions for Coverage, and accreditation requirements. Supervise and support nursing personnel and other clinical staff within the scope of the DON position. Assist with nursing staff scheduling and ensure appropriate staffing levels based on the facility's procedure schedule, patient needs, and staff competencies. Participate in the orientation, training, and ongoing education of nursing and clinical personnel. Verify and maintain documentation of nursing staff licenses, certifications, orientation, training, annual competencies, and other required clinical qualifications in coordination with administration. Develop, review, implement, and update nursing policies, procedures, protocols, and clinical workflows. Monitor nursing practice for compliance with established facility policies and patient safety standards. Participate in employee competency evaluations and provide education or corrective training when areas for improvement are identified. Oversee and promote safe patient care throughout the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-anesthesia phases of care. Ensure appropriate nursing documentation is completed throughout the patient's surgical encounter. Monitor compliance with medication administration, medication security, controlled substance procedures, and medication reconciliation requirements as applicable to nursing services. Monitor emergency medications, crash cart supplies, emergency equipment, and other required clinical supplies to ensure they are available, current, and ready for use. Help ensure appropriate management, storage, and availability of medications and patient care supplies. Monitor adherence to infection prevention and control practices, including hand hygiene, injection safety, environmental cleaning, sterilization/high-level disinfection practices as applicable, and use of personal protective equipment. Collaborate with the facility's designated Infection Preventionist to identify infection control risks, implement corrective actions, and maintain compliance with the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program. Participate in surveillance and follow-up activities involving potential healthcare-associated infections. Participate in the facility's Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program. Assist with identifying clinical quality indicators, collecting and reviewing data, identifying opportunities for improvement, implementing corrective actions, and monitoring effectiveness. Participate in QAPI projects and performance improvement activities. Review clinical incidents, medication variances, patient transfers, adverse events, complaints, and other patient safety concerns and assist with investigation and follow-up. Ensure appropriate incident documentation and timely communication of significant clinical events to the Administrator, Medical Director, and Governing Body as appropriate. Participate in Governing Body, QAPI, safety, infection control, and other facility meetings as required. Provide nursing and patient safety reports to facility leadership and the Governing Body as appropriate. Participate in development and implementation of the facility's emergency preparedness program. Participate in emergency drills and staff education related to emergency response, fire safety, patient evacuation, emergency transfers, malignant hyperthermia, and other applicable emergency situations. Assist with maintaining clinical readiness for regulatory and accreditation surveys. Participate in survey preparation, mock surveys, corrective action plans, and ongoing compliance monitoring. Work collaboratively with the Administrator, Medical Director, physicians, anesthesia providers, and other facility leadership to maintain safe and efficient surgery center operations. Promote a culture of patient safety, regulatory compliance, professionalism, and continuous quality improvement.

PROCEDURAL AND CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

On scheduled procedure days, the NP/DON will receive training and may assist with a variety of clinical and procedural responsibilities based on demonstrated competency, experience, licensure, scope of practice, facility policies, and physician direction.

Responsibilities may include:

Assist with preparation of patients before scheduled procedures. Participate in pre-procedure assessment, verification, and patient safety processes. Assist with clinical care during procedures as appropriate to training and assigned responsibilities. Support the physician, anesthesia provider, nursing staff, and other members of the procedural team. Assist with patient monitoring and clinical documentation as appropriate to the assigned role. Assist with medication, equipment, and supply preparation and verification. Support infection prevention, aseptic technique, and patient safety practices. Assist with coordination of patient care between the pre-operative, procedural, and recovery areas. Participate in post-procedure care and patient handoff as appropriate. Maintain clinical competency for assigned procedural responsibilities. Complete additional clinical and procedural training as needed to support the operations of the surgery center. Perform other clinical responsibilities consistent with licensure, training, demonstrated competency, facility policy, and applicable regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Current and unrestricted California Registered Nurse license. Current California Nurse Practitioner certification/licensure. Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Current BLS certification. Current ACLS certification or willingness to obtain within a specified period after hire. Ability and willingness to serve as Director of Nursing for an ambulatory surgery center. Ability and willingness to complete additional clinical and procedural training based on the needs of the surgery center. Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and documentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, anesthesia providers, nurses, medical assistants, administration, and other healthcare professionals. Strong understanding of patient safety and quality-of-care principles. Ability to balance direct patient care responsibilities with nursing leadership and administrative responsibilities.

Current California furnishing number, as applicable. DEA registration or eligibility to obtain DEA registration if prescribing controlled substances is included within the position.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Previous Nurse Practitioner experience. Pain management or interventional pain management experience. Ambulatory surgery center experience. Operating room or procedural nursing experience. Previous charge nurse, nurse manager, nursing supervisor, or Director of Nursing experience. Experience with CMS Conditions for Coverage, AAAHC standards, or other ambulatory surgery accreditation requirements. Experience with QAPI or performance improvement programs. Infection prevention experience. Chronic pain medication management. Orthopedics, neurology, spine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, or related specialty experience. Experience preparing for healthcare regulatory or accreditation surveys.

ABOUT THE POSITION

This position is ideal for a Nurse Practitioner who enjoys direct patient care but is also interested in clinical leadership, procedural medicine, and ambulatory surgery operations. The selected candidate will work closely with Dr. Anand and the administrative and clinical teams at both AAPMC and Delta Bay Surgery Center. The position provides the opportunity to develop specialized experience in interventional pain management while taking an active leadership role in nursing operations, patient safety, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and ASC clinical operations. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Pay Range:
