What they do
A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

Job Description
- minimum Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (state accredited program)
- preferred Experience 1 year For external hires, acute care experience in their specialty for new hires. Promotion to Clinical Nurse II is automatic after completion of one (1) year of clinical experience and a satisfactory performance appraisal at a Clinical Nurse I level.
- minimum Licenses and Certifications RN State License
- Upon Hire minimum California State RN License Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Upon Hire minimum BLS Certification. As required by your specialty unit. Other

- 1 Year minimum Other Competencies, as required by your specialty unit (ex. ACLS, PALS, fetal heart monitoring) ANCC Specialty Certification
- preferred Any ANCC Specialty Certification strongly recommended after 2 years in specialty
