In this vital role, you will coordinate and oversee patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and quality. Your expertise will help facilitate smooth operating room operations, support surgical teams, and enhance patient outcomes. Responsibilities Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment, supplies, and instruments are sterile, functional, and ready for use. Assist surgical teams by providing a comprehensive understanding of the procedure plan and patient needs. Monitor aseptic technique throughout procedures to maintain strict infection control standards. Act as the central communication link between the surgical team, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals during operations. Document all intraoperative activities accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Manage patient safety by assessing vital signs, responding to emergencies like airway issues or bleeding, and supporting anesthesia as needed. Facilitate patient transfer to recovery areas post-surgery while ensuring proper documentation of intraoperative events. Requirements Valid nursing license with current registration in the relevant state or country. Proven experience as an Operating Room Circulating Nurse with demonstrated proficiency in OR procedures and protocols. Familiarity with EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation. Knowledge of aseptic technique, sterile processing, and infection control practices. Experience working in diverse surgical specialties including ophthalmology, cardiology (e.g., cardiac catheterization), trauma (Level I & II trauma centers), or critical care environments such as ICU or PICU is highly desirable. Ability to manage complex cases involving advanced procedures like botulinum toxin treatment, dialysis access, or tube feeding management. Strong assessment skills for patient care planning and emergency response during surgeries. Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Physical ability to stand for extended periods and assist with patient positioning and transfer equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
