In this vital role, you will provide exceptional recovery care for patients emerging from anesthesia following surgical procedures. Your expertise will ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate patient assessments, monitoring, and interventions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment where your skills directly impact patient outcomes and recovery experiences. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality post-operative care, utilizing advanced nursing practices and state-of-the-art technology. Duties Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to monitor recovery progress. Administer medications, including pain management therapies such as opioids and non-opioid options, ensuring proper dosage and documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards. Manage airway patency and ventilator support for patients requiring respiratory assistance, utilizing aseptic techniques and advanced airway management skills. Perform IV infusions, venipuncture, catheter care, suturing, and specimen collection with precision and adherence to sterile procedures. Monitor for signs of acute pain or distress; implement appropriate interventions for pain control and comfort management. Collaborate with surgical teams and anesthesiologists to coordinate patient care plans during post-operative recovery stages. Document all patient interactions accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner; ensure compliance with medical documentation standards. Respond swiftly to emergencies including trauma incidents or cardiac events within a Level I or Level II trauma center setting; utilize critical care experience to stabilize patients effectively. Educate patients and families on post-discharge care instructions, including medication administration, wound care, and activity restrictions. Maintain infection control protocols, sterile processing standards, and aseptic techniques throughout all procedures. Qualifications Current RN licensure in accordance with state regulations; BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred. Proven experience in pre-op and/or PACU or post-anesthesia recovery settings within hospital environments; ICU or emergency room experience highly valued. Strong knowledge of physiology, pharmacology related to anesthesia recovery, and medical terminology relevant to acute care nursing. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; proficiency in ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases) for accurate documentation. Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental delays, and those requiring specialized memory or dementia care. Ability to perform complex procedures such as tube feeding management, dialysis access care, ostomy care, and wound suturing when necessary. Excellent critical thinking skills combined with the ability to respond effectively under pressure during trauma or emergency situations. Knowledge of infection control practices aligned with NCQA standards; understanding of Workers' Compensation law is a plus for occupational health cases.
