to cover our LVN's days of vacation or when there is a call out. Shifts would be anytime from Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm. (Open to train on Mental Health Worker duties is a PLUS+)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team. We are a 6-bed residential Mental Health treatment center. The Nurse is responsible for providing a variety of mental health nursing services which focus on prevention, treatment, education, and rehabilitation of the physical and mental health of the client. The Nurse collaborates as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team (Treatment Team) to develop and implement effective treatment strategies. Responsibilities Assessments and Referrals
- Administer health assessments and complete necessary forms
- Administer and read TB tests
- Referrals to appropriate health agencies
- Advocacy
- Education
- Providing health education on a variety of topics to clients, including but not limited to general health care, medication, diabetes, safe sex, dual diagnosis, and nutrition.
- Provide resource materials Medical Oversight
- Technical consultation for Mental Health Workers
- Observes medication procedures and makes recommendations
- One-on-One nursing counseling as needed
- Coordination of Services
- Work with multidisciplinary team
- Liaison between client and health agencies
- Make referrals to health facilities for clients
- Keep staff appraised of any potential client issues
- Medical records documentation as required Qualifications
- Attainment of at least 18 years of age.
Education:
LVN, LPT
licensure required. Possession of a valid license/certificate of registration issued by the California Board of Nursing Education and Nurse registration is required. Possession of or ability to acquire valid Malpractice Insurance.
Experience:
Two years working with individuals with psychiatric disabilities.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in general and psychiatric nursing; medicines and narcotics and their effect upon the patient; theories of personality growth and development; available community resources. Understanding of community health nursing and psychiatric nursing methods and procedures. Ability to recognize and evaluate mental and emotional status; plan and evaluate a program of treatment administer treatments, medicines, and narcotics as prescribed; speak and write effectively; understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Special Skills:
Demonstrated ability to work as a team player. Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license, clean driving record and personal automobile insurance. Hiring is contingent upon receiving DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance, a submission of a signed Criminal Record Statement, a TB test, and clearance on an employment physical.
