PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING. THIS IS AN ON-CALL POSITION
to cover our LVN's days of vacation or when there is a call out. Shifts would be anytime from Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm. (Open to train on Mental Health Worker duties is a PLUS+)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team. We are a 6-bed residential Mental Health treatment center. The Nurse is responsible for providing a variety of mental health nursing services which focus on prevention, treatment, education, and rehabilitation of the physical and mental health of the client. The Nurse collaborates as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team (Treatment Team) to develop and implement effective treatment strategies. Responsibilities Assessments and Referrals
  • Administer health assessments and complete necessary forms
  • Administer and read TB tests
  • Referrals to appropriate health agencies
  • Advocacy
  • Education
  • Providing health education on a variety of topics to clients, including but not limited to general health care, medication, diabetes, safe sex, dual diagnosis, and nutrition.
  • Provide resource materials Medical Oversight
  • Technical consultation for Mental Health Workers
  • Observes medication procedures and makes recommendations
  • One-on-One nursing counseling as needed
  • Coordination of Services
  • Work with multidisciplinary team
  • Liaison between client and health agencies
  • Make referrals to health facilities for clients
  • Keep staff appraised of any potential client issues
  • Medical records documentation as required Qualifications
  • Attainment of at least 18 years of age.
Education:
LVN, LPT
licensure required. Possession of a valid license/certificate of registration issued by the California Board of Nursing Education and Nurse registration is required. Possession of or ability to acquire valid Malpractice Insurance.
    Experience:
    Two years working with individuals with psychiatric disabilities.
      Knowledge:
      Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in general and psychiatric nursing; medicines and narcotics and their effect upon the patient; theories of personality growth and development; available community resources. Understanding of community health nursing and psychiatric nursing methods and procedures. Ability to recognize and evaluate mental and emotional status; plan and evaluate a program of treatment administer treatments, medicines, and narcotics as prescribed; speak and write effectively; understand and carry out oral and written directions.
        Special Skills:
        Demonstrated ability to work as a team player. Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
          Other Requirements:
          Valid driver's license, clean driving record and personal automobile insurance. Hiring is contingent upon receiving DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance, a submission of a signed Criminal Record Statement, a TB test, and clearance on an employment physical. Current First Aid and CPR certification is preferred prior to employment. We are looking for an individual who is not only skilled but also passionate about providing exceptional patient care.
