  • Position Summary
  • The
  • Certified School Nurse (CSN)
  • plays a vital role in promoting student health and academic success by providing comprehensive nursing services within the school environment.
The CSN assesses and manages student health needs, administers specialized care, develops individualized health plans, and serves as a resource for students, families, and school staff. Working collaboratively with educators, administrators, healthcare providers, and families, the CSN helps ensure that students can safely access and participate in their educational programs. Responsibilities include health assessments, emergency response, health education, case management, and maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • + Assess, monitor, and address student health needs in accordance with established nursing standards and district policies.
+ Develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Care Plans (ECPs) as needed. + Administer medications and nursing treatments in accordance with physician orders and district procedures. + Provide health screenings, referrals, and follow-up services to support student well-being and educational success. + Respond to student health emergencies and provide appropriate nursing care and intervention. + Collaborate with school staff, families, medical providers, and community agencies regarding student health concerns and services. + Participate in IEP, 504, and multidisciplinary team meetings as appropriate. + Promote health education, disease prevention, and wellness initiatives throughout the school community. + Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential student health records. + Ensure compliance with all district, state, and federal health and education requirements.

  • School Nurse Services Credential, Certification, or Credential in School Nursing

  • CPR/BLS certification

+ TB screening, PPD, or chest X-ray clearance as required. + Current health clearance and immunization documentation as required by state regulations or district policies. + Strong knowledge of student health services, medication administration, chronic condition management, and emergency response procedures. + Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills. + Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, educators, administrators, and healthcare professionals. + Must meet all applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements. + Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • + Experience supporting students in K-12 educational settings. + Familiarity with special education services, IEPs, and Section 504 plans. + Experience managing chronic health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, seizure disorders, and severe allergies. + Knowledge of school health regulations and compliance requirements. + Bilingual skills are a plus.
