This is a per diem position for an RN who is confident and comfortable caring for postoperative plastic surgery patients overnight. The ideal candidate has strong clinical judgment, excellent assessment skills, and experience recognizing and responding to postoperative complications. Prior plastic surgery and overnight postoperative nursing experience is required. Responsibilities Provide overnight nursing care and monitoring for postoperative plastic surgery patients Perform ongoing assessments, including vital signs, pain, nausea, surgical sites, dressings, drains, and overall recovery Administer medications according to physician orders Monitor for postoperative complications, including bleeding, hematoma, respiratory concerns, uncontrolled pain, nausea/vomiting, and changes in patient condition Provide drain, dressing, compression garment, positioning, ambulation, and comfort care as ordered Recognize changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately Communicate with the surgeon, anesthesia provider, and clinical leadership as needed Follow facility emergency protocols and escalation procedures Complete accurate and timely nursing documentation Provide a thorough handoff to the oncoming clinical team Qualifications Current, unrestricted California RN license Current BLS certification Current ACLS certification Minimum 1 year of relevant plastic surgery, PACU, or postoperative recovery nursing experience Plastic surgery experience required Overnight postoperative nursing experience required Strong postoperative assessment and clinical judgment skills Experience recognizing and responding to postoperative complications Ability to work independently while following established physician orders and escalation protocols Dependable, professional, and comfortable working overnight shifts Schedule Per diem/as-needed Typical overnight shift: 6:30 PM-6:30 AM Shifts are scheduled based on surgical volume and patient needs Availability may vary from week to week Compensation $55.00-$65.00 per hour , depending on relevant experience.
