The Nevada County Public Health Department promotes the health of the entire community through varied programs ranging from control of communicable diseases and coordination of the response to health emergencies to individual case management to primary prevention of disease and wellness promotion. Come join our dynamic, professional team committed to keeping Nevada County's residents safe and healthy! We are seeking a 0.5 FTE Clinic Practitioner to join our Truckee Clinical Services Team. Our Truckee Clinic operates three days per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays), providing reproductive healthcare and STD testing services to high-risk populations and underserved communities. The Clinic Practitioner serves as the primary clinical care provider and is responsible for delivering high-quality, client-centered medical services.

Key duties include:

• Assessing client health through medical/health history review and physical examinations
• Ordering appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, interpreting results, and supporting clients with abnormal findings by coordinating follow-up appointments and referrals
• Providing comprehensive family planning counseling, including contraceptive selection, device fitting and placement, and prescribing appropriate contraceptive methods
• Performing gynecological examinations, procedures, and screening services for women Ideal Characteristics for this role:

• Strong clinical judgment - Ability to independently assess patient needs, interpret diagnostic results, and make evidence-based decisions.

• Excellent communication and counseling skills - Able to communicate clearly and effectively, offering thoughtful counseling and education during family planning and reproductive health visits.

• Detail-oriented and organized - Ensures accurate documentation, proper follow-up for abnormal labs, and smooth coordination of referrals.
• Collaborative - Ability to work well with nursing staff, administrative support, and public health colleagues.

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or related field. Post-graduate coursework sufficient to meet licensure. One year of clinical experience in the desired specialty area. Licenses and Certificates Possession of a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse AND certifica­tion as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing, OR possession of a valid certificate as a Physician Assistant issued by the Medical Board of California, OR possession of a valid certificate as a Certified Nurse Midwife issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
