What they do
A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

Job Description
- Prepare patients for surgery by conducting thorough assessments and ensuring all necessary documentation is complete
- Administer medications, including pain management therapies such as opioids and non-opioid options, ensuring proper dosage and documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards
- Manage airway patency for patients requiring respiratory assistance, utilizing aseptic techniques and advanced airway management skills
- Conduct post-operative assessments, provide care instructions, and address any patient concerns
- Knowledge and experience with administering IV and IM drugs and their possible adverse reactions
- Interpretation of cardiac arrhythmias
- Collaborate with surgical team to coordinate patient care plans during post-operative recovery stages
- Educate patient and families on post-discharge care instructions, including medication administration, wound care, and activity restrictions Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
- Active RN license in the state of California
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- Proven experience in pre-op and PACU settings; ER experience highly valued
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
