Category Nursing•RN•MS Oncology Job Type Travel If you are an experienced RN with a passion for oncology nursing, this contract opportunity on a leading Blood Cancer Unit offers a rewarding and collaborative environment. Schedule:
7:00 PM•7:00 AM (night shift) Contract assignment
Desired Skills & Experience:
Active RN license Basic Life Support (BLS) Minimum one year of recent oncology acute care experience in a hospital setting Strong compassion for oncology and chronic patient populations
Preferred Qualifications:
Chemo and biotherapy certification Previous step-down experience or experience with acute hematology patients Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct nursing care and monitoring to a diverse oncology patient population (average ratio 3-4:1) Administer medications, blood products, and electrolyte replacements Assist with procedures: lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies (with and without sedation), and thoracentesis Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure best practices in patient care Utilize advanced equipment including telemetry, bladder scanner, Alaris PCA/pumps, and Meditech EMR Adhere to strict handling and safety protocols around hazardous drugs This award-winning unit boasts a strong team culture, minimal reliance on CNAs, and pride in providing primary nurse-driven care.
