1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum) position at a rural acute care hospital in Colorado, requiring at least 1 year of L&D experience and LDRP training. Details Rural acute care hospital setting with a small LDRP unit consisting of 4 LDRP beds, 2 triage beds, and 3 postpartum beds, plus 1 OR suite for C-sections Unit serves pregnant women, newborns, and GYN surgical patients, with an average of 0-2 births per day (~200 per year) Nurses are expected to triage, function as the primary delivery nurse, and manage postpartum and newborn care; circulating C-sections and managing post-op GYN patients is not required RNs are required to titrate drips; common titratable drip includes Pitocin Charge nurse is one of two nurses on shift and takes a patient assignment; no nurse aides or surgical techs on the unit OBs are on-call with a 20-minute response time and are not routinely in-house; anesthesia is in-house during regular business hours and on-call after hours with a 20-minute response time RT is requested for deliveries but staffing is limited; a on-call pediatrician may attend deliveries in lieu of RT Respiratory equipment available includes Bubble CPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula (NC) Charting via Epic; OBIX used as the EFM system 12-hour night shifts, 6p-6a Every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) required Half of winter holidays required Floating to Med/Surg as helping hands is required on a rare basis; travelers are given float priority No on-call or standby requirement 26-week contract Requirements Active CO RN license or Compact (NLC) license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted Required certifications (all must be active; pending not accepted): BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Minimum 1 year of L&D experience required Must be trained and experienced in LDRP care (labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum) Must be able to triage and function as the primary delivery/transition nurse BSN not required Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility; a valid driver's license is required for consideration to verify permanent address 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Additional Information Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; those previously working PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered Unit orientation is 3 days; candidates must be on-site in Colorado for the orientation week, even if initial modules are completed remotely Interview is conducted by the Medical Solutions Clinical Team; no unit manager interview is involved Scrubs are not provided and there is no color requirement AWHONN staffing guidelines are followed as much as possible given the rural hospital setting
