Until filled Farmington Public Schools has an opening for a part time, School Nurse based at Farmington High School and will float within the district when needed.
General Description:
The school nurse implements Board of Education policy and regulations related to health. This position is responsible for instructing and assisting students in maintaining good physical, mental, and social health. The role of the School Nurse was created for the purpose(s) of supporting school staff in assessing the health needs of students, developing emergency care plans and individual health plans. Complying with the laws relating to student health, including parental and guardian consent; providing appropriate care of ill, medically fragile and/or injured students; providing health information and serving as a resource to parents, guardians, teachers, staff, and administrators; and identifying health problems for referral for proper treatment. As a district, we are also committed to supporting the whole child by promoting a trusting, mutually respectful and inspiring culture that values the individuality of our students and the professionalism of the field. Candidates should hold a R.N. (Registered Nurse) degree and be licensed to practice in the State of Connecticut. BS in Nursing preferred. Consideration will be given to the following: References that indicate the candidate exhibits nursing talent. Public health experience, specifically in an education environment, contributes to overall performance. Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with students and staff. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in pediatrics, public health, and/or med surg. CPR certification

Work Schedule:
Prorated to part time (.5) 3.5 Hours per day One hundred eighty (180) school days and four (4) preparatory days prior to the official opening day of school.
Salary:
Prorated to part time (.5) $28,564.91 - $34,916.26 commensurate with experience (based upon per the 2025-2026 Nurse's salary scale per union agreement for full time $57,129.82 - $69,832.52 ). Prorate to part time (.5) Salaries currently under negotiation for 2026-2027 Additional $700 stipend for meetings, $1500 for Bachelor's Degree Please submit a resume and two reference letters in addition to your online application.
