Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic RN Infection Preventionist/Wound Nurse to lead our efforts in infection control and wound management within a dynamic healthcare environment. This vital role combines clinical expertise with leadership, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients through meticulous infection prevention strategies and advanced wound care. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention protocols aligned with current healthcare standards and regulations, including OSHA and HIPAA compliance. Conduct comprehensive patient observations, monitor wound healing progress, and assess infection risks using advanced physiology, microbiology, and anatomy knowledge. Lead infection control initiatives by reviewing medical records, documentation, and data collection to identify trends and areas for improvement. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create personalized care plans focused on infection prevention and wound management. Educate staff on aseptic techniques, infectious disease care, and epidemiology principles to promote best practices across all clinical settings. Oversee data management related to infection rates, wound outcomes, and compliance metrics; prepare reports for leadership review. Supervise patient monitoring activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols while maintaining meticulous medical records in accordance with HIPAA standards. Skills Extensive critical care experience with a strong background in hospital or acute care settings. Proven leadership skills with experience managing or training healthcare teams in infection control or wound care programs. In-depth knowledge of infectious diseases, microbiology, epidemiology, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to nursing practice. Familiarity with data management tools, MDS (Minimum Data Set) assessments, and medical records documentation review processes. Ability to perform patient observation accurately while applying aseptic techniques in various clinical environments such as assisted living facilities or Level I/II trauma centers. Strong understanding of public health principles, OSHA regulations, and infection control policies to ensure compliance across all operations. Excellent communication skills for educating staff, documenting findings clearly, and collaborating effectively with healthcare teams.
