What they do
A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

- Requirements:
- + RN (Registered Nurse) License + Diploma, Associate's, Bachelor's or Higher in Nursing +
- Preferred Education:
- Bachelor's in Nursing + 2-years' RN experience in the ICU in an Acute Care setting + Preferred RN experience
- 5-years in the ICU in an Acute Care setting + BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association + ACLS certification with the American Heart Association The

- ICU•responsibilities and skills: + Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards + Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team + Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care + Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
+ Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient's medical condition
+ Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients
+ Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
+ High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
