Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Preoperative/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated perioperative team. In this vital role, you will provide expert nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures, ensuring their safety, comfort, and optimal recovery. Your expertise will support seamless transitions through the surgical continuum, from pre-op assessments to post-anesthesia recovery, all while adhering to the highest standards of patient care and safety protocols. Duties Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and patient education on procedures and recovery expectations Prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery by ensuring proper documentation, verifying consent forms, and explaining perioperative processes Administer medications as prescribed, including IV infusions and sedation, following aseptic techniques and safety protocols Monitor patients closely during post-anesthesia recovery, managing pain levels with acute pain management techniques and assessing for complications such as airway issues or bleeding Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans and ensure smooth perioperative workflows Maintain accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations Provide patient education on post-discharge care, including wound care, medication administration, and activity restrictions Skills Proven experience working with individuals undergoing surgical procedures in a PACU or similar setting Strong knowledge of anesthesia recovery protocols and critical care practices in a Level I or Level II trauma center environment Skilled in IV insertion, catheter care, suturing assistance, and aseptic technique to support surgical teams effectively Familiarity with advanced airway management tools like ventilators and neonatal resuscitation procedures is a plus Ability to perform thorough patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and physiological evaluations with precision Excellent communication skills for clear collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and compassionate patient interactions Join us to make a meaningful impact in surgical patient care!
