Job Description
HCA Healthcare is seeking a New Grad Registered Nurse to join our Nurse Residency program. In this role, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based care while developing clinical skills under the guidance of experienced preceptors. Responsibilities include conducting patient assessments, administering medications, collaborating with the care team, and educating patients and families. You'll participate in structured classroom learning, simulation, and mentorship designed to support your transition into professional nursing. Responsibilities Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to a diverse patient population under the guidance of preceptors and clinical educators Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and recognize and report changes in patient condition promptly Administer medications and treatments accurately following hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care Document all aspects of patient care, assessments, and interventions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in a timely and accurate manner Collaborate with physicians, experienced nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team to develop, implement, and evaluate individual patient care plans Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, discharge instructions, and health promotion strategies Participate actively in residency classes, clinical simulations, skills labs, and competency validations throughout the program Seek and incorporate feedback from preceptors, educators, and leaders to continuously advance clinical judgment and critical thinking Support a culture of safety by adhering to infection prevention standards, fall prevention, and other patient safety initiatives Respond appropriately to emergencies and escalate concerns using established communication tools and protocols Contribute to a compassionate, patient-centered environment aligned with HCA Healthcare's mission, values, and code of conduct Engage in professional development activities, reflective practice, and goal-setting to support a successful transition from student to professional nurse Required Skills Patient assessment Medication administration IV therapy and infusion management Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation Care planning and care coordination Clinical decision-making Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or within set timeframe Infection prevention and control Wound care fundamentals Safe patient handling and mobility Vital signs monitoring and interpretation Time management and prioritization Interdisciplinary team collaboration Patient and family education HIPAA and patient privacy compliance Clinical equipment operation (pumps, monitors, etc.)
