PRN Pre-Op and PACU Registered NursesJob Overview Relieve Staffing is seeking experienced, compassionate Registered Nurses for PRN opportunities in preoperative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) settings at outpatient surgical centers throughout the Jacksonville area.
Our surgical specialties include:
Orthopedics Ophthalmology Orthopedic spine Pain management Plastic surgery ENT In this role, you will provide safe, high-quality patient care before or immediately following surgical procedures. Ideal candidates are dependable, clinically skilled, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment as part of a collaborative surgical team. ResponsibilitiesPre-Op Responsibilities Complete preoperative patient assessments and review medical histories. Verify consent forms, allergies, medications, and preoperative testing. Start and manage intravenous (IV) lines and administer medications as ordered. Prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgical procedures. Educate patients and their families about the surgical and recovery process. Communicate relevant patient information to the operating room team. Accurately document assessments, medications, and care provided. PACU Responsibilities Monitor patients' vital signs, airway, pain level, and overall condition during recovery from anesthesia. Recognize and respond promptly to complications or adverse reactions. Administer medications and manage IV fluids as ordered. Provide pain management, comfort measures, and emotional support. Determine patients' readiness for discharge or transfer based on established criteria. Educate patients and caregivers about postoperative care and discharge instructions. Accurately and promptly document all patient care activities. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other members of the clinical team to ensure smooth transitions of care. Qualifications and Skills Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. PACU, pre-op, critical care, emergency room, or perioperative nursing experience preferred. Experience supporting orthopedic, ophthalmology, orthopedic spine, pain management, or plastic surgery cases is preferred. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, patient assessment, and medication administration. PACU candidates should have experience with airway management and postoperative monitoring. Familiarity with outpatient surgery and operating room procedures is preferred. Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills. Ability to recognize changes in a patient's condition and respond appropriately. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
