Job Description
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Oversee instrument and equipment setup for the OR, utilizing preference cards and anticipating surgeons' needs in real time.
- Coordinate and oversee the room during a case as circulator, ensuring adherence to sterile technique and safety protocols.
- Facilitate effective, efficient transitions between procedures to minimize downtime and maintain OR flow.
- Manage patient care, monitoring, and medication administration throughout the surgical process.
- Perform pre-op patient assessments, including verifying informed consent, surgical site, and relevant medical history.
- Provide clear pre and post-operative patient education, including wound care and recovery instructions.
- Review charts for completeness and accuracy in accordance with documentation protocols, both prior to and after surgical procedures.
- Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, state board of nursing).
- Participate in consultations and assist with setup and support for administration of Botox, dermal fillers, and laser procedures.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to intra-operative emergencies or complications.
- Maintain accurate inventory of surgical supplies and equipment, coordinating reordering as needed.
