Job Summary and Qualifications We are seeking a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)RN to join our healthcare team. Your primary function is to provide care for children and adolescents with a wide-range of ailments, from common childhood diseases to life-threatening illnesses. You will work with a phenomenal team that cares like family and works together in a collaborative manner.
In this role you will:
Demonstrate knowledge and application of the nursing process to infants, children, and adolescents. Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. Measure patient's vital signs, such as blood pressure, breathing and heart rate, and initiates corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptomatology. Follow continuous cardiac and respiratory monitor readings, such as EKG tracings, O2 stats, CVP/arterial line waveforms, if applicable, and reports any observed changes. Change dressings, inserts catheters, starts IVs (both central venous & arterial). Administer infusion therapy, including: IV fluids, antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, electrolytes Assist with the insertion or discontinuation of CV catheters, arterial lines, external ventricular drains, epidural catheters and endotracheal tubes, Foleys. Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments. Provide education, information, and support to the patient's family.
Job Requirements:
Associates Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing Required, Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required. Compact license holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation. BLS-AHA Provider issued card required within 30 days of start ACLS-American Heart Association ACLS Provider issued card required within 6 months PALS-American Heart Association PALS Provider issued card required within 6 months 2 Years acute care pediatrics, ICU, or PICU experience preferred Benefits HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital, offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, career and retirement of our colleagues.
