Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Radiation Therapist Registered Nurse to join our dynamic oncology team. In this vital role, you will combine your expertise in nursing and radiation therapy to provide comprehensive care for patients undergoing cancer treatment. Your responsibilities will include administering radiation therapy, ensuring radiation safety, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize treatment outcomes. Duties Administer external beam radiation therapy using linear accelerators, including advanced techniques such as intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) Prepare and operate sophisticated medical imaging equipment, including CT scanners for simulation and treatment planning purposes Monitor patient responses during treatment sessions, managing acute care needs with critical care experience when necessary Implement and adhere to radiation safety procedures to protect patients, staff, and yourself from unnecessary exposure Assist in radiation treatment planning by collaborating with oncologists and medical physicists using medical software and radiation physics principles Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) documentation of treatments, patient progress, and safety protocols Educate patients on their procedures, including physiology knowledge relevant to their treatment and recovery process Experience Proven experience in radiation oncology or medical imaging environments with a focus on external beam radiation therapy Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to cancer treatments Hands-on experience operating medical equipment such as linear accelerators, CT simulators, and other radiotherapy devices Familiarity with radiation safety procedures and implementing radiation safety protocols in clinical settings Prior exposure to mammography or other specialized imaging modalities is a plus Critical care or acute care experience enhances the ability to manage complex patient needs during treatment sessions Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) management systems and medical software used in radiation therapy planning Join us in making a difference by providing compassionate, expert care that transforms lives.
