Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-ER Job Type Contract Make an immediate impact in a dynamic emergency department within a 637-bed teaching hospital designated as a Level 1 Trauma Center. This contract position offers the opportunity to care for a diverse patient population, including those experiencing chest pain, strokes, trauma, and mental health emergencies, in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Schedule:
Day shift 3x12 hour shifts per week
Qualifications:
Active RN license Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience (Level I Trauma experience required for this role; Level II candidates considered with manager approval) First-time travelers will be considered
Certifications:
BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS
(BCR required; EKG competency exam during onboarding) National certification in Emergency Nursing is preferred Experience using
EPIC EMR
(minimum of 6 months required) Proficiency with critical drips (Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, Levophed)
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality emergency nursing care in a busy department with an average census of 61+ Maintain patient ratios typically at 1:4, depending on zone Collaborate with CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalists, intensivists, and telemetry technicians Operate a variety of advanced medical equipment, including Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors, and rapid infusers Float within the ER as needed, with the possibility of floating to a sister facility Maintain documentation via EPIC and participate in ongoing department education and orientation
