Job Description
Category Nursing - RN-ER Job Type Contract Take on a rewarding opportunity in a dynamic Emergency Department within a renowned teaching hospital. As a skilled Emergency Room RN, you'll provide expert care in a fast-paced, Level 1 Trauma setting with a 61-bed unit and surge capacity. Make a difference managing high-acuity cases such as chest pain, strokes, diabetes, MVCs, and trauma while being supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team.
Schedule:
Day shift, three 12-hour shifts per week
Key Qualifications:
Valid RN license with at least two years of Emergency Department RN experience; Level I trauma experience required (Level II candidates need manager approval) Willingness to consider first-time travelers Current
BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS
certifications; ability to pass an EKG competency exam (BCR requirement) National Emergency Nursing certification preferred, but not required Experience with
EPIC EMR
(minimum 6 months) Proficiency managing critical drips (Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, Levophed) Ability to float within the ER after 6 months and potentially to a nearby sister facility if needed
Responsibilities:
Prioritize and deliver high-quality emergency nursing care with keen assessment skills in a rapidly changing environment Manage typical ER patient loads (
RN:
1:4 ratios, subject to zone), including trauma, cardiac, and mental health emergencies Operate advanced medical equipment and document accurately in EPIC Collaborate closely with CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, and specialized hospital teams (Phlebotomy, PICC, RT, Hospitalist/Intensivist) Engage in thorough orientation and ongoing education modules
