Job Description
Wellstar Health System seeks a Critical Care APP to provide advanced practice care for critically ill adults in ICU and step-down units. In this on-site role, you will perform comprehensive assessments, manage complex conditions, order and interpret diagnostics, and perform select procedures within your credentialed scope. You will collaborate closely with intensivists, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care. The position offers exposure to advanced technology, ongoing training, and opportunities to participate in quality improvement within a mission-driven, not-for-profit health system. Responsibilities Provide advanced practice care to critically ill patients in ICU and step-down settings Perform assessments, develop and implement evidence-based care plans Order and interpret diagnostic tests; perform select procedures as credentialed Collaborate with intensivists, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams for optimal outcomes Participate in care transitions, family education, and shared decision-making Ensure documentation accuracy, compliance, and patient safety standards Support quality improvement, protocol implementation, and best practices Precept and mentor team members and contribute to ongoing education Required Skills Critical care assessment and management Ventilator and hemodynamic management Advanced diagnostic interpretation Procedural skills (lines, airways, etc.) as credentialed Electronic medical record documentation Interdisciplinary team collaboration Patient and family education Protocol-driven and evidence-based care Acute resuscitation and emergency response Quality and safety improvement
