1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with GA or Compact RN licensure to provide critical care nursing in a split-unit ICU setting. Details Care for critically ill medical/surgical patients including sepsis, cardiac arrest, cardiovascular disease, respiratory failure, alcohol/drug overdose and withdrawal, post-op surgical care, GI bleeding, end of life/comfort care, and
COVID-19
complications Split ICU unit totaling 12 beds across two floors, with higher acuity patients on the 2nd floor and lower acuity patients on the 1st floor 2nd floor staffs 3 nurses per shift at a 1:2 patient ratio 1st floor staffs 2 nurses and 1 PCT per shift at a 1:3 patient ratio Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00 Every other weekend required No on-call responsibilities Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed Uses Epic charting system Requirements Active GA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required; CCRN and NIHSS preferred Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required Experience with 1:2-3 patient ratios required Prior charge nurse experience preferred Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred Skilled in IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs Experience with arterial line management preferred Skilled in ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP management, ETT/NT suctioning, and ABG interpretation Experience assisting with chest tube insertion/removal and HFNC preferred Experience with emergency medications and management of dysrhythmias Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure Knowledge of infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE Two supervisory references (Manager level or above) strongly preferred at time of consideration Copies of required certifications needed for consideration Additional Information Provide critical care nursing within a Surgical Intensive Care Unit setting Deliver care for patients with cardiac monitoring needs, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias Support acute and chronic renal failure patients as part of care team First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate Prior Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler Returning travelers who canceled or received a Do Not Return must complete one assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, which must be finalized at time of consideration No RTO can be requested during orientation week No holiday RTO can be requested if 1-2 major holidays fall during the assignment If 3 major holidays fall during the assignment, one holiday RTO request may be considered Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day Shift and schedule as listed are firm with no alternate shift or schedule requests permitted Travel pairs cannot be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
