POSITION SUMMARY
The RN provides direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department. Provides care that meets the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of patient and families; and reflects initiative and responsibility consistent with professional expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following represents the essential functions of this position. Other duties may be required as needed. 1. Perform initial assessments, take vital, and monitor patient conditions, reporting changes to charge nurse. 2. Assist with emergency procedures, wound care, and dressing changes. 3. Start IVs, hang/monitor/discontinue IV fluids, and administer medications within the nursing scope of practice. 4. Administer and monitor medications in accordance with physicians' orders. 5. Evaluate patient progress and report changes in condition. 6. Communicate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient status, symptomatology, and diagnostic results. 7. Maintain accurate nursing documentation in the medical record with CPSI access. 8. Review discharge instructions with patients and families. 9. Assist in maintaining a stocked and clean department. 10. Respond appropriately in high stress and fast paced environments. 11. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited RN program Current RN license in the State of Georgia Minimum of two (2) years of ED experience preferred Current BLS certification ACLS certification or within 3 months of employment PALS certification within 6 months of employment preferred CPI training to be completed within 6 months of hire Professional Requirements 1. Maintains professional appearance and adheres to dress code. 2. Reports to work on time and as scheduled. 3. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. 4. Demonstrates effective communication with patients, families, and staff. 5. Participates in required education, training, and meetings. 6. Maintains professional relationships with interdisciplinary teams. 7. Supports departmental goals and quality initiatives.
Working Conditions:
May be exposed to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and conditions common to a clinical environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, or bend intermittently throughout the workday. Ability to think and work effectively under stress with frequent interruptions. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
