Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine acuity levels and prioritize care. Administer medications and injections accurately using aseptic technique, including IV infusions and medication management for acute pain and other urgent conditions. Manage airway patency and ventilator support, utilizing advanced critical care skills such as intubation and ventilator management. Conduct diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, processing, and interpreting results using EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth. Provide emergency interventions including suturing, trauma medicine procedures, cardiac catheterization support, and neonatal resuscitation procedures when necessary. Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations; ensure compliance with NCQA standards and ICD coding protocols (ICD-9/ICD-10). Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for discharge planning, case management, and follow-up care including hospice & palliative medicine or long-term care when appropriate. Skills Proven experience working in emergency medicine environments such as Level I or Level II trauma centers with familiarity in trauma medicine and acute care procedures. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology relevant to emergency nursing. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation and medical records management. Skilled in performing advanced life support techniques including Basic Life Support (BLS), airway management, venipuncture (phlebotomy), IV insertion, and sterile processing. Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities, memory care patients, and those requiring behavioral health support. Ability to handle high-pressure situations efficiently while maintaining compassionate patient care; excellent assessment skills for triage and diagnostic evaluation. Familiarity with hospital protocols involving infectious disease care, occupational health standards, outpatient/urgent care procedures, and post-acute care settings such as home & community care or sub-acute environments.
