Position Overview The ER RN will provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients across a wide range of ages and diagnoses. This department is a STEMI- and Stroke-receiving facility and requires nurses who can recognize rapidly changing patient conditions and respond appropriately in a high-acuity environment. This is not a new-to-ER travel assignment . Candidates must be experienced, self-sufficient, and comfortable managing emergency patients in a fast-paced department. Key Responsibilities Perform rapid patient assessments and prioritize care according to acuity. Provide emergency nursing care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions. Manage patients presenting with chest pain, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, uncontrolled diabetes, falls, and other acute conditions. Care for behavioral health patients in designated safe rooms. Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms. Administer and titrate medications and critical care drips as ordered. Manage patients requiring medications such as Levophed, epinephrine, and fentanyl. Perform RN blood draws and assist with emergency procedures. Support STEMI and stroke patients prior to transfer for definitive intervention. Participate in triage and vertical-flow/fast-track areas. Troubleshoot respiratory equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow equipment as needed. Collaborate with physicians, mid-level providers, RT, PCTs, and other healthcare professionals. Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC. Float between Memorial campuses as needed to maintain contracted hours. Emergency Department Highlights 24 Emergency Department beds 4 Behavioral Health safe rooms 2 Critical Care rooms 9-chair vertical flow area Separate triage area Approximately 70-80 patients/day 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio STEMI and Stroke receiving facility No trauma designation No OB services GE telemetry monitoring RNs are responsible for reading their own telemetry strips RT available 24/7 RN performs blood draws ED staffed by an attending physician 24/7 Additional mid-level providers during peak hours Required Certifications

Required Qualifications Minimum 2 years of ER/ED experience Strong emergency nursing experience Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Experience with high-acuity patients Strong EPIC proficiency required Comfortable caring for a diverse patient population Able to perform triage Comfortable interpreting telemetry/EKG rhythms Willingness to float between Memorial campuses when needed Scheduling & Floating 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM 36 hours guaranteed per week Weekend requirements may vary based on facility needs Travelers are expected to assist with holiday coverage unless otherwise negotiated No call or standby requirement Block scheduling is not guaranteed Travelers may float between three Memorial campuses, all located approximately 20-25 minutes apart Orientation Travelers will receive: Two 8-hour hospital orientation shifts at the main campus Two 12-hour clinical orientation shifts with a unit preceptor during the first week Dress Code Navy blue scrubs Plain or Memorial-branded sweatshirts permitted No hoodies Important Notes This position is not suitable for a new ER nurse . Candidates must be self-sufficient and comfortable caring for high-acuity patients. Strong EPIC experience is required. Experience in smaller, fast-paced emergency departments is highly desirable.
