The Registered Professional Nurse IV, Critical Care Lead, is responsible for assisting the RPN VI, Critical Care Nurse Manager(s) in coordinating and supervising the staff, and managing the daily operations of the unit(s) by fulfilling the technical and clinical functions, requirements, skills and competencies of the staff. Also serves as a resource in some clinical matters and performs other duties as assigned. May work on rotating shifts with work on weekends and holidays.THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.EDUCATION
Graduated from an accredited school of nursing. While not required, graduation from a nursing program with a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
Applicants must have shown progressively responsible work experience of the kind and quality described below:NURSING EXPERIENCE
One and one-half (1-½) years of professional nursing work experience. One (1) year of hospital experience in which administrative, supervisory, teaching and nursing ability has been demonstrated is highly desirable. For Registered Professional Nurse IV and above, must have demonstrated possession of supervisory aptitude.SUPERVISORY APTITUDE
For Registered Professional Nurse IV, applicants must have demonstrated possession of supervisory aptitude. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader; or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory or administrative capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.CERTIFICATION
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Worker required at the time of appointment, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification are required within six (6) months of employment. Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or Critical Care Course (CCRN) preferred.LICENSE REQUIRED
Possession of a current license to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Knowledge of nursing theory and practice; nursing techniques and procedures; nursing literature and current trends and development in nursing; biological, physical, social and medicinal sciences as related to nursing theory and practice; nursing techniques and procedures. Knowledge of JCAHO requirements, and those of other federal, state, or private regulatory/review organizations with which the hospital interacts. Ability to plan and schedule the work of others and utilize the principles and practices of supervision. The ability to apply nursing theory and practice in planning and giving nursing care; recognize, interpret and evaluate symptoms of patient's condition; and take appropriate action. The position should be able to initiate and maintain working relationships with members of the medical staff, administration, nursing and other departments and agencies affiliated with the hospital.ALL CIVIL SERVICE JOB VACANCIES WILL BE POSTED FOR A MINIMUM OF TEN
