2 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a combined Med/Surg & Pediatrics unit at a Level IV trauma Critical Access Hospital, requiring a minimum of 3 years of Med/Surg/Peds experience and at least 1 year of travel nursing experience. Details Acute care setting in a combined Med/Surg and Pediatrics unit at a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) 19-bed unit with the ability to overflow onto the CCU side Shared adult and pediatric patient population — common diagnoses include CHF, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, orthopedic surgeries (knee, hip, shoulder replacements), general/colon surgeries, and RSV in pediatric patients Nurse-to-patient ratio goal of 1:4, but may be up to 1:6 Nurse aides available; goal ratio of 1:6 on days and 1:8 on nights, varying by census and staffing Heparin drip titration required Telemetry monitoring handled by CCU nurses; Philips monitors used and telemetry interpretation skills preferred but not required Charge Nurse oversees both MSP and CCU; House Supervisor is based in the ED and oversees the entire hospital
MEDITECH EMR
12-hour night shifts, with start time at 7:00 PM 6-week cyclic scheduling; block scheduling not guaranteed Every third weekend required, including Fri/Sat/Sun (some flexibility for Sat/Sun/Mon) Floating to CCU or OB required; cross-training to behavioral health and ER available for interested candidates Requirements Active IA or Compact RN license required Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and PALS Minimum 3 years of Med/Surg/Peds experience required Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience required BSN not required Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for this position Additional Information One 12-hour orientation shift provided Holiday coverage required — one major and one minor holiday depending on the season of the contract Scrub colors: grey, black, pink, or white Physical med drawer keys are managed through the Pyxis; travelers are responsible for checking out and returning keys each shift — failure to return keys may result in a replacement fee Candidates are expected to be aware of and actively support unit quality projects and initiatives A positive, team-oriented attitude and cultural buy-in are strongly valued on this unit
