Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Agency Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN), where your expertise will directly impact the lives of mothers and newborns during one of the most critical moments of their journey. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide specialized, compassionate care in a fast-paced, supportive environment. As an Agency RN, you will deliver high-quality nursing services across various settings, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes for patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum care. Your skills in emergency response, patient assessment, and advanced clinical procedures will be vital to our mission of delivering exceptional maternal and neonatal care. Duties Provide comprehensive nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum stages, including monitoring vital signs and fetal heart rates. Assist with obstetric procedures such as cesarean sections, episiotomies, and suturing, ensuring aseptic technique is maintained at all times. Administer medications including analgesics, antibiotics, and anesthesia as prescribed, with careful attention to dosage and patient response. Conduct detailed patient assessments, including physical examinations and physiological evaluations to determine labor progress and maternal health status. Manage emergency situations such as neonatal resuscitation or obstetric hemorrhage by applying critical care protocols and trauma medicine principles. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and support staff to coordinate patient care plans. Document all patient interactions accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Cerner or Athenahealth while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Skills Proven experience working in labor & delivery units within hospital or maternity settings with Level I or Level II trauma center experience preferred. Strong knowledge of obstetrics procedures including fetal monitoring (telemetry), catheterization, IV infusion, and pain management techniques. Familiarity with advanced clinical skills such as neonatal ventilator management, cesarean section assistance, and postpartum hemorrhage control. Competency in medical documentation using EMR/EHR systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks; proficiency in ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10). Ability to perform physical examinations, vital signs assessment, and patient education effectively. Experience working with diverse populations including individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring memory care or hospice & palliative medicine services. Knowledge of infection control practices, sterile processing standards, and aseptic techniques essential for safe delivery practices. Join us to make a meaningful difference in maternal health!
