PM Shift Duration:
8 hours with a 30-minute unpaid break Must be available to work every 3rd weekend Weekly Schedule 40 hours per week Five working days per week 30-minute unpaid break each day This is a 1099 position only that is not eligible for unemployment compensation or worker's compensation. Required Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) License issued by the Iowa Board of Nursing . Ability to successfully pass a Level 3 Background Check as a condition of employment Graduate of an accredited nursing program Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (preferably in correctional, acute care, or emergency settings) Current Basic Life Support via AHA or American Red Cross Fluency in English (spoken and written) Ability to provide verifiable education, training, and employment history Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office products Essential Functions Provide direct nursing care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities. Plan, implement, and evaluate healthcare services for individuals served. Conduct quarterly physical assessments and monitor medication side effects. Assess and document injuries, illnesses, and required interventions. Provide emergency care, including First Aid, CPR, oxygen administration, and oral suctioning. Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately. Transcribe and document medication orders with precision. Complete all required training programs. Communicate effectively with physicians, families, individuals served, and interdisciplinary teams. Maintain regular attendance and provide shift coverage or overtime when required. Key Responsibilities Report all allegations of abuse, incidents, and safety concerns immediately in accordance with WRC Abuse and Incident Management policies. Complete nursing assessments and evaluations, including quarterly reviews, MOSES, DISCUS, risk assessments, and annual ISP reports. Assess, document, and follow up on healthcare concerns, illnesses, injuries, incidents, and temporary medical conditions using SOAP charting methodology. Perform and document physical assessments for assigned individuals before the end of each shift. Conduct illness and injury follow-up assessments according to nursing protocols. Adhere to universal precautions and report all potential bloodborne pathogen exposures. Monitor medication administration and ensure compliance with PNM guidelines. Oversee restraint use and conduct required safety assessments. Prioritize patient care activities based on medical acuity and individual needs. Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members. Administer medications, enteral feedings, nebulizer treatments, and other prescribed therapies. Accurately enter, transcribe, and implement physician orders in electronic systems. Maintain complete and accurate Medication Administration Records (MARs). Communicate medication and treatment changes to the interdisciplinary team. Train and mentor direct care staff, medication aides, and team members on healthcare procedures and safety protocols. Provide competency-based training related to Health and Safety Support Plans. Maintain all required certifications, including Health Care Provider CPR. Complete documentation for off-campus appointments, home visits, and healthcare follow-ups. Perform additional duties as assigned. Ready to Make a Difference?
